The Class System and... Books!

Ah yes. The Great British Class System has now been extended to books! At the top of the heap: poets. At the bottom: crime authors.

And my question is this: where is romance? Where is women's fiction?

Apparently they're so far off the radar, they don't even deserve a mention.

A challenge then - just needs someone to produce a poetry collection based on the writings of Agatha Christie........

You're right. There seems to be a few types of books missing from this list.

And yet I know poets who claim they're at the bottom of the class system because they sell in such small numbers :)

There's still a class system in operation, though - you know the old saying about how there's no desire stronger than that of the rich for titles, except that of the titled for riches? :D

Sharon - I'd love for someone to do just that! You up for it? :)

Thanks, Theresa and Ellen, for your comments! Funny that so many genres are missing...
